Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

One of the major differences between EHR (Electronic Health record) and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) is with regard to how the data stored electronically is used and shared.

  1. While EMR relates to the confines of a practitioner or a single health office, the EHR relates to the sharing of documents across different providers.

  2. While EMR is only the electronic data of a single diagnosisi, the EHR is a comprehensive view of the patient’s overall health condition.

  3. EHR can be said to be a comprehensive data of the health history of the patient.

  4. EHR is more useful in the treatment of a patient as it contains up to date information of a patient’s health condition. As EMR pertains to only the clinical data of a patient of a single clinic, it cannot be said to be complete in all aspects.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Health has determined that public health systems that receive EHR data do not need to be certified.

Nightingale Notes is a web-based application that runs in a web browser, like Mozilla Firefox. There is no Champ software to install, no updates to install, and no server maintence for your agency. We make all the updates after business hours, and backup your data nightly on secure servers in two different geographic locations. For more information, please read the Nightingale Notes Whitepaper.

You can add additional licenses at any time. The more licenses you currently have, the less additional licenses cost. Please contact our sales department to find out how much an additional license will cost for your agency.

The cost for Nightingale Notes, our newest web-based product, annual support is based on the number of licenses you purchase. We price our products very competitively. Our sales staff is glad to work with you to provide pricing on support, training and licenses. Please contact us for a personalized quote.

We have been quietly developing a strong customer base in the upper Midwest and have recently expanded to other parts of the country. We only grow as fast as we can serve new customers with the same first-name support we're committed to.

We think so! We've been making software for 25 years now. We have over 100 customers, many of whom have been with Champ for 20 years or more. We don't get funding from venture capital, and we keep a low debt load. We listen to customers and don't expand beyond what we can handle. All these things contribute to our financial stability and customer satisfaction.

"Nightingale Notes is awesome! The nurses "Love It!" This is the first computer program they have done
besides Outlook. By the end of the first month I kept hearing how they love it. They are even pushing
now to get laptops so they can take them in the homes. The time savings and accuracy has already
started. I cannot think of anything that would even make me question doing this again."

"One of our favorite aspects of Nightingale Notes is the fact that we can access the software wherever there
is an internet connection. We love the ability to create custom tabs in NN - a feature we are already using
and plan to use even more in the future"

Nurses from Douglas County, MN

Bismarck Burleigh Public Health chose Champ because we were looking for an electronic health record which would fit our needs, programsi and work flow; we did not have to adjust our work process into an
offered structure. We wanted the program to be web based so it worked for all of our programs, including
home health and schools. Our staff wanted to get away from duplicate documentation for charting and
billing. We were also looking for a way to collect outcomes, including for community based programs,
and BBPH found the Omaha System and Nightingale Notes is able to meet all of these needs.”
