Frequently Asked Questions

Will CHAMP be here in 10 years?
We think so! We've been making software for 20 years now. We have over 70 customers, many of whom have been with CHAMP for 10 years or more. We don't get funding from venture capital, and we keep a low debt load. We listen to customers and don't expand beyond what we can handle. All these things contribute to our financial stability and customer satisfaction.

What type of agencies use CHAMP software?
CHAMP serves public health, community health, and home health agencies. Our clients are diverse in purpose and size. Clients range from large county health departments with 20-30 nurses, to newly-started private duty home care agencies with 2-5 nurses.

What can CHAMP software do for your agency?

  • Save time and money
  • Generate bills more efficiently
  • Electronic billing for Medicare and Medicaid
  • Produce CMS-1500 & UB-04 bills as well as private pay invoices
  • Omaha System promotes accurate, standardized nursing notes and clinical charting
  • Clinical system tracks assessments, visits and contacts, additional services and inventory
  • Administration system produces invoices, payments; integrates timesheets and cost reporting
  • Over 115 standardized reports
  • Customized query reports
  • Track employees' productivity time
  • Reduced double data entry

Why haven't I heard of CHAMP Software?
We have been quietly developing a strong customer base in the upper Midwest and have recently expanded to other parts of the country. We only grow as fast as we can serve new customers with the same first-name support we're committed to.

How is your software developed?
Someone gets a great idea for how to help nurses serve clients better, or how to increase agency reimbursement, and then we work with our customers to make it happen. Also, customers often send enhancement requests for current screens and reports, and based on customer demand and technical feasibility, we do our best to incorporate their ideas.

How many workstations can CHAMP software run on?
Our software is scalable from one user to many users, running in a networked environment. Our current largest agency has it installed on 60 workstations. We offer competitive pricing based on ranges of the number of users and modules chosen.

What type of platform does CHAMP software run on?

  • Network solutions require a server running Windows NT Server, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows XP Professional
  • SQL Server™ Standard or Enterprise is also required; smaller agencies may be able to use Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE)
  • We recommend office workstations run Windows® 2000 Professional, or XP Professional; mobile workstations must run Windows® 2000 Professional or XP Professional
  • Minimum hardware recommendations are available here

Does CHAMP work at the point-of-care?

  • Yes, it does; check out charts to a laptop for use in the field (supports full comprehensive assessment with OASIS).

How easy is the software to use?
The best way to answer this is to let our current customers answer for us. Here's a testimonial from one of them:

Cindy Shaughnessy, LeSuer County Public Health
LeSuer, MN

"All of our nurses quickly learned to use the system, even nurses with minimal computer skills"

What type of training does CHAMP offer?

  • On-site training at your agency
  • Web-based training in 1-2 hours sessions to fit your busy schedule
  • Advanced training designed to meet your specific needs
  • For nurses we partner with Karen Martin and offer basic and advanced Omaha System sessions
  • Read more about our training packages

Does CHAMP handle PPS billing?
Yes, our software produces RAPs and final claims. It also generates several reports that help identify the most complex Medicare billing types. It produces 837 Institutional/Professional claims and reads 997 acknowledgements.

Is CHAMP software HIPAA-compliant?
Yes, CHAMP TouchPoint meets federal privacy, security, and transaction requirements, to name the main sections of the new policies.

SQL Server™ is a registered trademark of Microsoft® Corporation.
