Submit a Support Case:

To contact support regarding an issue or question, please send an email with as much detailed information as you can provide including error message and screen shots to support@Champsoftware.com.  Sending us an email will automatically open a support case, which we usually respond to the same day.

If you have a more urgent issue, you can reach support by calling 507-388-4141 or toll-free at 855-686-3498. If we don't answer, we may be assisting other customers so please leave a detailed voicemail message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Remote Support using WebEx:

There may be times when we need to provide remote support using WebEx. WebEx™ is a tool that allows Champ support staff to connect to an end-user's computer over the Internet. With the permission of the end-user, support staff can view and control their Champ application and desktop in order to diagnose and resolve support problems.

Support staff can also personally train end-users in how to accomplish a task in Champ, transfer files, receive files, and perform any task as if they were personally seated at the end-user's computer. Everything works over the Internet through web browers, so there is no new software to learn, nothing to install (a small plug-in is downloaded the first time), and no additional firewall configuration for IT administrators (usually uses port 443).

WebEx™ is HIPAA-compliant. For technical information about WebEx security please read the WebEx Security White Paper. Additionally, all data sent over the Internet is encrypted using 128-bit SSL.

5010 Billing Changes for Champ Clients

The HIPAA 5010 Compliance Deadline is Quickly Approaching

You have probably heard that CMS has pushed its January 1st deadline for 5010 compliance back 90 days, to March 31, 2012. However, they are still encouraging providers to push ahead with testing. You can view the CMS statement regarding this change here. We also would like to ask you to begin testing, if you have not yet done so.

You can create 5010 electronic batch claims to submit to your payers, intermediaries, and/or clearinghouses in both Champ TouchPoint and Nightingale Notes. It is a simple process to create test claims:

In TouchPoint:

In Pay Code Setup, change Invoice Form to 5010 Profes or 5010 Instit. Also, change the Electronic File Status to T – Test.

In Nightingale Notes:

In Setup, go to Pay Sources. Change Claim Template to the appropriate 5010 template. Usage Indicator needs to be set to Test.

After these steps, you can create test claims. We can help you get a successful test result, if your claims should be rejected. If this happens, please send your test claims and results/rejections to support@champsoftware.com.

Happy testing!

Are You Successfully Submitting 5010 Bills?

If you have not yet tested with your payers, clearinghouses or intermediaries, you should begin to do so, since the 5010 compliance deadline was January 1, 2012. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services are allowing a 90-day discretionary enforcement period, to allow providers to work with their software vendors to become compliant. To read about this statement from CMS, please click here.

If you follow these tips for 5010, it may mean less errors in your testing:

  •  Provider addresses must now be a complete physical street address, not a post office box.
 In Nightingale Notes:
  •  Provider addresses must include a 9-digit zip code. In Setup, go to Agency Info and add the extra 4 digits.
  •  Make sure that you have the appropriate 5010 claim template selected in your Pay Sources setup.
  • Once you are done testing, remember to change Usage Indicator from T to P.
  • Type of Admissioni is now required on all Institutional claims. This is located on the client’s Claim Data tab, in the Institutional Claim Locators section.
In TouchPoint:
  •  Provider addresses must include a 9-digit zip code. Go to System ð Agency Variables and add the extra 4 digits, no dash necessary, to the UB/CMS1500/485 Agency Address. Make sure that the complete zip code is on the third address line.
  • Check your Pay Code Setup screens to make sure that you have the appropriate 5010 Invoice Form selected.
  • Once you have finished testing, remember to change Electronic File Status from T – Test to P – Production.
  • Make sure that you have the most up-to-date program code. This would be the December 2011 release, along with the patch file located on our website at: http://www.champsoftware.com/support/touchpoint-support
  • Type of Admission is now required on all Institutional claims. This field is on the client’s Billing ð UB-04 Claim Locators screen. Here are the Type of Admission codes:
1 – Emergency
2 – Urgent
3 – Elective
4 – Newborn
5 – Trauma Center
9 – Information Not Available

Champ is currently working on partnering with Availity, to make batch claim submission easier for our customers. If you submit claims through Availity, contact us to give you a new Application Sender ID for 5010 claims at support@champsoftware.com.

"Nightingale Notes is awesome! The nurses "Love It!" This is the first computer program they have done
besides Outlook. By the end of the first month I kept hearing how they love it. They are even pushing
now to get laptops so they can take them in the homes. The time savings and accuracy has already
started. I cannot think of anything that would even make me question doing this again."

Happiest User Ever!
Pam Stevenson
Acct. Tech., Becker County Community Health

"One of our favorite aspects of Nightingale Notes is the fact that we can access the software wherever there
is an internet connection. We love the ability to create custom tabs in NN - a feature we are already using
and plan to use even more in the future"

Nurses from Douglas County, MN

Bismarck Burleigh Public Health chose Champ because we were looking for an electronic health record which would fit our needs, programsi and work flow; we did not have to adjust our work process into an
offered structure. We wanted the program to be web based so it worked for all of our programs, including
home health and schools. Our staff wanted to get away from duplicate documentation for charting and
billing. We were also looking for a way to collect outcomes, including for community based programs,
and BBPH found the Omaha System and Nightingale Notes is able to meet all of these needs.”

Paula Flanders, Public Health Director for Bismarck-Burleigh
